The scheme “Training in Coir” Component of the “Development of Coir” Scheme by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Union Territory of Puducherry aims to promote and develop Coir-based industries. It focuses on providing a 6-month training to the rural poor to generate employment.

Benefits

• Stipend of ₹1,500 per month per trainee during the 6-month training.
• Honorarium of ₹300 per month per trainee for the trainer (max ₹3,000/month).
• Compensation for raw material wastage: ₹200 per month per trainee (max ₹2,000/month).

Eligibility

• Applicant must be a native or continuous resident of Puducherry for the past three years.
• Age: 18 to 35 years.
• Applicant must be literate.
• Must not have already been trained through this scheme.

Application Process

Offline

• Step 1: Print the prescribed application form.
• Step 2: Fill out mandatory fields and attach required documents.
• Step 3: Submit to the Project Manager (Cottage Industries) at the District Industries Centre, Thattanchavady, Puducherry – 605 009.
• Step 4: Receive a unique number as acknowledgment.
