The “Tiatr Competition” is organised annually by the Kala Academy under the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Goa. The scheme aims to encourage and promote the unique Goan theatre form of Tiatr. Participation in this scheme is open to Goan institutions registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

Benefits

• Free auditorium with permissible infrastructure (extra facilities chargeable).
• Hire charges paid for two vehicles for transportation of artistes and stage materials (as per Kala Academy norms).
• 80% of gate collection from ticket sales is given to the participating institution.
• Prizes awarded based on recommendations from a panel of judges.

Cash Prizes – Group ‘A’

• Best Performance: 1st Prize: ₹1,00,000/-; 2nd Prize: ₹75,000/-; 3rd Prize: ₹50,000/-; Consolation (2 prizes): ₹25,000/- each (if >10 performances).
• Individual Acting (Male & Female): 1st Prize: ₹7,000/- each; 2nd Prize: ₹5,000/- each.
• Negative Role (Male & Female): 1st Prize: ₹7,000/-; 2nd Prize: ₹5,000/-.
• Comedian (Male & Female): ₹5,000/-.
• Child Artiste (Male & Female): ₹2,000/-.
• Best Direction: 1st: ₹10,000/-; 2nd: ₹7,000/-; 3rd: ₹5,000/-.

Cash Prizes – Group ‘B’

• Best Performance: 1st Prize: ₹50,000/-; 2nd Prize: ₹40,000/-; 3rd Prize: ₹30,000/-; Consolation Prize: ₹20,000/- (if >10 performances).
• Individual Acting (Male & Female): 1st Prize: ₹3,000/- each; 2nd Prize: ₹2,000/- each.
• Negative Role (Male & Female): 1st Prize: ₹3,000/-; 2nd Prize: ₹2,000/-.
• Comedian (Male & Female): ₹2,500/-.
• Child Artiste (Male & Female): ₹1,000/-.
• Best Direction: 1st: ₹5,000/-; 2nd: ₹4,000/-; 3rd: ₹3,000/-.

Technical & Singing Awards (Group A / Group B)

• Stage Setting: ₹5,000/- / ₹2,500/-
• Light Effects: ₹5,000/- / ₹2,500/-
• Music (Band): ₹9,000/- / ₹4,500/-
• Make-up / Costumes / Background Music: ₹5,000/- / ₹2,500/- each
• Best Singer Solo: 1st: ₹2,000/- / ₹1,000/-; 2nd: ₹1,000/- / ₹500/-
• Best Comedy Solo: ₹2,000/- / ₹1,000/-
• Best Choral Cantar: ₹4,000/- / ₹2,000/-

Eligibility

• The institution should be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
• The registration of the institution should be valid at the time of application.

Application Process

Offline:

• Step 1: Request a hard copy of the application form from the Office of Tiatr Academy of Goa, Campal Trade Centre, Panaji, Goa.
• Step 2: Fill in all mandatory fields, paste a passport-sized photograph, and attach self-attested copies of required documents.
• Step 3: Submit the application within the prescribed period to the academy staff.
