The scheme “Tiatr Competition for Educational Institutions at Higher Secondary/College/University Level” was launched by the Tiatr Academy under the Art, Culture and Museums Department, Government of Goa. The scheme aims to encourage and develop Tiatr activities among students recognizing their enthusiasm in traditional performances.

Benefits

• Financial Support: Educational institutions receive assistance for expenses including music (live band), light effects, stage setting, background music, makeup, costumes, refreshments, and transport.
• Performance Platform: 15 educational institutions get the opportunity to participate.
• Awards: Mementos and certificates for Best Performance, Individual Artistes, Direction, and Technical aspects.
• Video Documentation: One free DVD of the performance.
• Direct Entry: Previous year’s top three winners get direct entry if they apply on time.

*All payments are made by cheque to the institution.

Eligibility and Conditions

• Must be an educational institution at higher secondary, college, or university level.
• Tiatr duration: 2 to 3 hours (including 10-15 min interval).
• Script must be new or from reputed writers, following the traditional format (6-7 acts, at least 4 cantos).
• Must include comedy linked to the story and at least 8 kantaram.
• Max 2 prior shows allowed. No adverse remarks against government, religion, or individuals.

Application Process

Offline:

• Step 1: Collect the application form from the Tiatr Academy of Goa office during the announced period.
• Step 2: Fill fields and attach self-attested documents.
• Step 3: Submit the form with a refundable security deposit of ₹3,000/- (Cash or DD in favour of Member Secretary, Tiatr Academy of Goa).

Post-Application & Selection

• Wait for script scrutiny feedback within 10 days.
• If more than 15 applications arrive, selection is by lots (except top 3 from last year).
• 3 days before competition: Submit final script, songs, cast list, and artist list.

Documents Required

• Complete Typed Copy of Tiatr Script.
• Typed Copy of Lyrics of Kantaram.
• Refundable Security Deposit of ₹3,000/-.
• (Later) List of artistes, technicians, and cast.
