About the Scheme

The “Sugarcane Development Scheme” by the Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry, Government of Uttarakhand, promotes high-quality cultivation through certified seed production, pest control, and soil treatment programs.

Benefits

  • High-Quality Seed Production: Subsidy for seed nurseries at ₹1000/- per hectare (₹2000/- for SC/ST). Primary nurseries receive ₹500/- per hectare (₹1000/- for SC/ST).
  • Seed/Soil Treatment: 50% subsidy on chemicals (25% from government, 25% from Councils/Mills).
  • Paddy Management: 50% subsidy for chemicals to protect standing crops.

Eligibility

  • Must be engaged in sugarcane cultivation.
  • Must be a member of a local Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committee.
  • Must be recorded as a cultivator in land ownership/revenue records.

Application Process

Offline

Farmers are selected at the village level through a Gram Sabha meeting, following discussion with public representatives and approval by departmental officials such as the Sugarcane Development Inspector.

Documents Required

  • Land Ownership or Revenue Records.
  • Membership Certificate of the Cooperative Sugarcane Development Society.
  • Identity Proof of the Farmer.
  • Caste Certificate (for SC/ST seeking enhanced subsidy).
  • Nursery Development Proof/Declaration.
