About the Scheme

The “State Millet Mission” launched by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Uttarakhand, aims to promote millet cultivation, ensure fair prices for farmers, and strengthen food security in the state. The mission seeks to support farmers, particularly in mountain districts, by procuring millet crops like Mandua and Jhangora at the minimum support price through cooperative groups.

Benefits

  • In the first phase, 16,820 metric tonnes of Mandua and Jhangora are being purchased from farmers’ fields at the minimum support price through cooperative groups.
  • Under the National Food Security Act, 1 kg per month will be distributed through the PDS (ration card) in Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, Nainital, and Dehradun.
  • Incentive: An incentive of ₹150/- per quintal is provided to encourage participation.
  • Payment: Payment via RTGS/NEFT within a maximum of 72 hours once the PACS accepts the crops.

Eligibility

  • All farmers from the mountain districts of Uttarakhand are eligible.

Application Process

Offline

There is no specific application process. Farmers are required to make their produce available for sale at purchase centers established at the farmer group/LC/LCF level or at the PACS level.
