The scheme “Science Communication and Popularization” is implemented by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) under the Science and Technology, Government of Uttarakhand. It aims to promote scientific thinking and awareness among citizens by providing support and funding to educational institutions, R&D organizations, and NGOs to organize science communication activities.

Benefits

Popularization of Science is one of the key programs initiated by the Council to promote scientific temper among the citizens of Uttarakhand, particularly the youth. A number of activities are conducted under this program. The Council provides financial assistance for organizing various events such as seminars, workshops, and conferences. It also organizes popular lectures and celebrates National Science Day.

Eligibility

The applicant must be an educational, research, or development organization, or an NGO based in Uttarakhand.

Proposals are invited twice a year through advertisements published on the website: https://www.ucost.in. The received proposals are evaluated in the Project Evaluation Group (PEG) meeting, where expert committee members assess them and recommend proposals for funding that address state-specific issues and contribute to the overall welfare of the state.
