The scheme “Reimbursement of Tuition Fees for Typewriting and Shorthand Courses for Children of Widows” by the Department of Women & Child Development encourages children of widows to pursue technical skills.

Benefits

Financial Assistance of ₹ 50/- per month as reimbursement of tuition fees. Allowed for a maximum of ten months per course and for the first attempt only. Limited to two children per widow.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a widow and a native of Puducherry (birth or 5+ years residence).
  • Annual income should not exceed ₹24,000.
  • Child must be enrolled in a government-approved institution in Tamil Nadu/Kerala/Andhra Pradesh for technical exams.
  • Child must have passed/appeared for SSLC or equivalent.
  • Widow should not be receiving assistance under any other Social Welfare Department scheme.

Application Process

Offline / Online (https://edistrict.py.gov.in/)

  • Step 1: Obtain the form from the Office of Women and Child Development.
  • Step 2: Fill the form and attach documents.
  • Step 3: Submit to the Deputy Director (Women Development) or CDPO at least 30 days before the course ends/event.
  • Step 4: Obtain an acknowledgment.

Documents Required

  • Aadhaar, Residence and Income Certificates.
  • Study Certificate and Institution Enrollment/Attendance certificates.
  • Certificate from MLA/MP/Tahsildar confirming widow status and relationship to children.
  • Attested copy of SSLC book/Transfer Certificate.
  • Original Tuition Fee receipts.
