“Pre Matric Scholarship Scheme (Saral Vidya Sahay) for SC and OBC (V to VIII)” was introduced by the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa. The scheme aims to support parents of children belonging to Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes for the education of their wards studying at the Pre-Matric stage. The applications for this scheme are accepted online via the Chief Minister Scholarship Portal.

Benefits

1. Stipend under Saral Vidya Sahay Scheme: ₹325/- per month for 11 months (₹3,575/- per annum).
2. Meritorious Scholarship Scheme:
   • Classes 5th to 6th: ₹900/- per annum
   • Classes 7th to 8th: ₹1,000/- per annum

Eligibility

• Applicant should be studying in classes 5th to 8th on a full-time basis.
• Applicant should belong to a Scheduled Caste (SC) or Other Backward Class (OBC).
• Parent/guardian’s annual income should not exceed ₹1,20,000/-.

Application Process

Online Registration:

• Step 1-3: Visit the Chief Minister Scholarship Portal, click “Register” under Student Registration, and fill in student details (Name, Category, Aadhaar, Address).
• Step 4-5: Create a password and confirm registration.

Online Application:

• Step 1-3: Login with username and password.
• Step 4-6: Select the scheme, click “Fresh Application”, fill the form, upload documents, and submit.

Post Application: The institution verifies the application and submits it to the directorate. Students can track progress using their Aadhaar Number and Date of Birth on the portal.
