The scheme “One-time and Annual Financial Grant to Soldiers Awarded with Gallantry Medals” is implemented by the State Sainik Board under the Sainik Welfare Department, Government of Uttarakhand. Under this scheme, a one-time financial assistance/annuity is provided to serving or ex-servicemen who have been conferred with the “Gallantry Medal Award.” In the event of martyrdom or death of the soldier, the grant is extended to the eligible family members or dependents.
Benefits
- One-time Grant: Maximum of ₹50,00,000/- and minimum of ₹4,00,000/-.
- Annual Financial Assistance: Maximum of ₹3,00,000/- and minimum of ₹40,000/-.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttarakhand.
- The applicant should be a serving soldier, an ex-serviceman, or in the event of martyrdom/death, an eligible dependent.
- The soldier must have been conferred with a “Gallantry Medal Award.”
Eligible dependents in case of martyrdom:
- Veer Nari (lifelong or until remarriage)
- Son (up to 25 years of age) / Daughter (till marriage)
- Parents
- Unmarried sisters
- Brother (up to 25 years of age)
Application Process
Offline:
- Obtain the application form from the District Sainik Welfare Office and submit it back to the same office.
- After verification at the District Sainik Welfare Office level, eligible applicants are paid through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
- The one-time grant is disbursed immediately; the annuity is released annually.

- Aadhaar Card of the applicant
- PAN Card
- Photocopy of bank passbook and cancelled cheque
- Identity card of the dependent (if applicable)
- Domicile certificate of Uttarakhand
- Photocopy of the gazette notification regarding the gallantry medal
- Affidavit (on ₹10 stamp paper) declaring no similar benefits received from other states.
- Photocopy of discharge book (for ex-servicemen)
