The “New Akanksha Scheme (Educational Loan)” is implemented by the Gujarat Thakor and Koli Vikas Nigam (GTKVN) under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme aims to provide financial support for higher technical and professional education to students belonging to Thakor and Koli communities. Under this scheme, loans are provided at subsidized interest rates to students for pursuing graduate and postgraduate studies in fields such as engineering, medical, MBA, and MCA.
Benefits
Education Loan Details:
- Loan Amount: Up to ₹15,00,000/-.
- Interest Rate: 4% per annum for male students and 3.5% per annum for female students.
Coverage Includes:
- Admission fees and tuition fees
- Books, writing materials, necessary equipment and examination fees required for the course
- Accommodation & food expenses
- Travel and insurance premiums
Contribution:
- 90% by Central Corporation
- 5% by State Government
- 5% by the Beneficiary
Repayment Terms:
- Repayment Period: 60 equal monthly installments (5 years)
- Start of Repayment: Within 6 months from course completion or employment, whichever is earlier.
Eligibility
- The applicant should be a resident of Gujarat.
- The applicant should belong to the Thakor or Koli caste/community.
- The family’s annual income should not exceed ₹3,00,000/-.
- The applicant should have secured admission in a recognized institution for:
- MBA or equivalent (approved by AICTE)
- MCA (Master of Computer Applications or equivalent)
- Undergraduate Engineering programs (approved by AICTE/IITs)
- MBBS or equivalent (approved by Medical Council of India)
Note: At least 50% of the total sanctioned loan amount will be reserved for applicants from families earning up to ₹1,50,000 annually.
Exclusion
- Loan is not eligible in case of admission obtained under management quota.

- Step 1: Visit the official website of the Gujarat Thakor and Koli Vikas Nigam.
- Step 2: On the top menu bar, click on “Apply Now”.
- Step 3: Click on the loan scheme name.
- Step 4: Select the loan category and fill in the loan amount.
- Step 5: Fill out the Application Form, entering Personal Information (Name, gender, date of birth, caste), Address Information, Income Details, Loan Requirement (Amount needed, proposed use), and Bank Account Details.
- Step 6: Upload scanned copies of the Caste certificate, Income certificate, Aadhaar card, Passport-size photo, Bank passbook (first page), and Residence proof.
- Step 7: Double-check all details using “Preview” and click “Submit”.
- Step 8: Save the Application ID/Reference Number for future tracking.
