The scheme “Motivation of Unemployed Persons To Start Self-Employed Enterprises Scheme (MUPSES)” was launched by the Union Territory of Puducherry in the year 2006 with a view to encouraging self-employment among the youth in manufacturing and service activities. Objective: To encourage unemployed persons to start manufacturing or service sector enterprises.

Activities Covered

All economically viable service and industrial activities including mechanized laundry, beauty parlors, tailoring units, and tea/coffee stalls.

Financial Details

• Project cost: Up to ₹2,00,000/-.
• Means of finance: Finance from Banks / Financial Institutions.
• Interest: Normal bank rate.

Benefits

• Loan from ₹10,000/- to ₹2,00,000/-.
• 50% subsidy for projects not exceeding ₹50,000/-.
• 35% subsidy (max ₹35,000) for projects between ₹50,000 and ₹2.00 lakhs.

Eligibility

• Unemployed Men and Women of Puducherry.
• Age as per bank norms.
• No formal education required but must be literate.
• No family income limit.
• Permanent resident for at least 3 years.

Step 1: Contact the Technical Officer, District Industries Centre.

Step 2: Download the application form from the official website.

Step 3: Fill form and attach documents.

Step 4: Submit to nearest District Industries Centre.

Step 5: Applications are scrutinized and interviews held quarterly.

Step 6: Successful applications forwarded to banks.
