The “Maa-Badi / Maa-Badi Day-Care Centre Scheme” was introduced by the Tribal Area Development Department, Government of Rajasthan, in 2007–2008. It provides primary education, nutritional support, and health awareness to out-of-school tribal children in remote areas where the nearest school is 1.5–2 km away.
Objectives
- Enroll 30 tribal children (6 to 12 years) at each center, with a preference for girls.
- Provide free primary education (Classes 1 to 4).
- Provide nutritional meals and materials to prevent migration of agricultural laborer families.
- Involve mothers in food preparation with an honorarium.
Benefits

- Day-Care Centers: Operates 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with 2 facilitators and 3 assistants; provides meals twice daily.
- Maa-Badi Centers: Follows school calendar with 1 facilitator and 2 assistants; provides breakfast and one mid-day meal.
Eligibility
- Age: 6 to 12 years.
- Community: Scheduled Tribe (ST), Kathodi, or Sahariya.
- Districts: Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Sirohi, or Rajsamand.
- Not currently enrolled in any formal school.
- Residing 1.5–2 km away from the nearest school.
Application Process (Offline)
- Visit the Maa-Badi Centre during office hours.
- Request the application form from the designated staff.
- Fill mandatory fields and attach self-attested documents.
- Submit the form back to the Maa-Badi Centre.
