The scheme “Imbichi Bawa Housing Renovation Scheme” by the Minority Welfare Department, Government of Kerala, aims to improve the basic facilities of houses belonging to widowed, divorced, or abandoned women from minority religious communities. Through this scheme, financial assistance is provided for house repairs to eligible women belonging to Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Parsi, and Jain communities. The scheme is implemented by the District Collectorates under the Minority Welfare Department.

Benefits

  • A non-refundable grant of ₹50,000/- is provided for the repair of a house.
  • Intended for improving basic amenities: windows, doors, roofing, flooring, finishing, plumbing, sanitation, or electrification.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must belong to: Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Parsi, or Jain communities.
  • Must be a widow, divorced woman, or abandoned woman.
  • House (owned by applicant or spouse) should not exceed 1200 square feet.
  • Applicant must be the sole breadwinner.
  • House should lack basic facilities.

Preference: Given to BPL families, applicants with physically/mentally challenged children, applicants with only daughters, or applicants without children.

Exclusion

  • Applicants with children having permanent government/semi-government income.
  • Applicants who received construction assistance in the last 10 years.

Application Process

Offline

Step 1: Download form from Directorate of Minority Affairs website section “News & Updates”.
Step 2: Fill mandatory fields and attach self-attested documents.
Step 3: Submit to Minority Welfare Section of respective District Collectorate or by post to Deputy Collector (General).

  • Husband’s Death Certificate (if applicable)

  • LSGI certificate confirming repair need and house area

  • Medical proof for challenges/illnesses (if applicable)
  • Name consistency certificate (if required)
