The scheme “Grant of Marriage Allowance to the Widow’s Daughter (GMAWD)” is a financial assistance scheme by the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Puducherry. This scheme aims to provide financial support to widows for the marriage of their daughters.

Benefits

• Financial assistance of ₹25,000/- for marriage expenses.

Eligibility

1. The applicant should be a widow with an annual income not exceeding ₹75,000/-.
2. Native of Puducherry by birth or 5 years continuous residence.
3. Applicable for the first marriage of the bride only.
4. The marriage of only one daughter per widow is eligible.
5. Bride age must be above 18; bridegroom age above 21.

Application Process

• Step 1: Visit the Women and Child Development office or print the form online.
• Step 2: Fill the form and attach mandatory documents (self-attest where required).
• Step 3: Submit the form at least 30 days before the marriage date.

• Residence and Income Certificates.
• Marriage Invitation and Registration Certificate (within 60 days post-marriage).
• Birth Certificates of Bride and Bridegroom.
• Death Certificate of the Bride’s Father.
• Aadhaar Card of widow and daughter.
• Ration Card and Voter ID.
• Caste Certificate and passport-size photograph.
