The scheme “Financial Assistance to Revive, Preserve and Protect Goan Maand Culture” by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Goa, encourages Goan Folk artists to revive forms like Zagor, Ranmalle, Kallo, Talgadi, and folklore music like Ghumatvadan and Dholvadan.

Objectives

  • To revive and protect Goan Maand culture for future generations.
  • To provide necessary infrastructure and financial support to existing Maand groups.
  • To create cultural interaction and a legacy of Maand artists.

Benefits (Nature and Quantum of Assistance)

  • Honorarium to Maand Guru/Trainer: ₹ 9,000/- per month.
  • Honorarium to Assistant: ₹ 6,000/- per month.
  • Stipend to Trainees: ₹ 1,500/- per month (groups of at least 30).
  • Folk Instruments Purchase: ₹ 50,000/-.
  • Upkeep of Maand Culture (Repairs): ₹ 40,000/-.
  • Costumes and Drapery: Up to ₹ 60,000/-.
  • Place Maintenance: ₹ 25,000/-.

Eligibility

  • Maand groups with a legacy of at least 30 years at a traditional Maand place.
  • Trainees must be at least 10 years of age.
  • Preference for culture on the verge of extinction.

Application Process

Step 1: Visit Directorate of Art & Culture, Panaji.
Step 2: Fill proforma form and attach self-attested documents.
Step 3: Submit to ACO-I, Directorate of Art & Culture, Panaji.

Documents Required

Undertaking on Maand existence, NOC from Devasthan, Registration Certificate (if any), Affidavit, Maand details, Utilization Certificate (for previous grants), Bank details, List of instruments, and List of artists.
