The scheme “Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grah Aawas (Home-Stay) Vikas Yojana” has been started by the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote rural and eco-tourism by encouraging local residents to develop homestay facilities, thereby generating employment and income opportunities within the state.

Benefits

Financial assistance for construction/upgradation of homestays:

• Hilly Areas: Subsidy up to 50% (max ₹15.00 lakh) + interest grant up to ₹1.50 lakh for 5 years.
• Plain Areas: Subsidy up to 25% (max ₹7.50 lakh) + interest grant up to ₹1.00 lakh for 5 years.
• Beneficiary contribution: 12.5% of project cost.

Funds/subsidy are also provided for the upgradation of old buildings, extension, renovation, and toilet construction.

Eligibility

• Excludes Municipal Corporations and Municipalities.
• Applicant must be a native of Uttarakhand and reside in the building.
• Property must have 1 to 6 guest rooms and be registered with UTDC.
• Preference for traditional hill-style architecture.

Apply online with Aadhaar. Applications are reviewed by DTDO and a committee chaired by the District Magistrate. Successful proposals are sent to the applicant’s chosen bank. After construction/renovation, a joint inspection by DTDO and the bank manager is conducted before the subsidy is credited directly to the loan account.
