The scheme “Award of Opportunity Cost to Parents of Scheduled Caste Girl Students” was implemented by the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department, Government of Puducherry to financially assist the Scheduled Caste parents for sending school their daughters who otherwise earn livelihood for the family engaging themselves in menial labour.

Objective

To eliminate the Scheduled Caste girl child labour and encourage parents to send girl children to educational institutions by paying opportunity cost in lieu of income shortage.

Benefits

• Under this scheme, ₹3,000/- per academic year is payable to the Scheduled Caste parent for each daughter studying in classes VI to XII standard.
• Note 01: Payable in addition to the Pre-Matric Scholarship.
• Note 02: Not payable for re-admitted students due to failure or discontinuance.

Eligibility

• Student must be a girl studying in Class VI to XII in a Government or recognized institution in Puducherry.
• The students should belong to the Scheduled Caste community.
• Native of Puducherry (birth or 3 years residence).
• Annual income of parents shall not be more than ₹24,000/-.
• Payable only if the student has been promoted to the next higher class.

Application Process

• Step 01: New Registration at the NSP Portal.
• Step 02: Obtain Student Registration ID.
• Step 03: Login via “Fresh Application”.
• Step 04: Fill out the Application Form in the portal.
• Step 05: Click “Final Submit”.
• Step 06: System generates a registration number for future reference.
