Launched in 2015-16, the scheme “Mukhyamantri Nidan Yojana” (also known as “Free Laboratory Testing Scheme”) by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to provide quality diagnostic facilities without charge at all government health institutions and ensure timely and accurate diagnosis of diseases like malaria, tuberculosis, cancer, diabetes, hypertension to reduce morbidity and mortality in communities. The scheme provides free essential pathology, biochemistry, hematology, microbiology testing services at all government health institutions and strengthens existing laboratory facilities.

  • The applicant must be seeking healthcare services at any government health facility in Gujarat.
  • The applicant must require diagnostic testing as prescribed by a qualified medical officer.
  • The applicant must visit designated government healthcare institutions.

Application Process

Offline:

  • Step 1: Visit the nearest government healthcare facility during working hours.
  • Step 2: Consult with a qualified medical officer for assessment.
  • Step 3: Obtain a written prescription specifying the required tests.
  • Step 4: Proceed to the laboratory/diagnostic section with prescription and ID.
  • Step 5: Undergo sample collection or imaging procedures.
  • Step 6: Collect diagnostic test reports as per the specified timeline.
  • Step 7: Return to the medical officer for interpretation and follow-up.
