The scheme “Madhya Pradesh Lok Vaniki Yojana” was launched by the Forest Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The scheme aims to manage private and revenue tree covered areas scientifically, where management is proposed voluntarily by the landowner, Gram Panchayat, or Gram Sabha.

Eligibility

• Landowner wishing to manage tree covered area.
• Gram Panchayat or Gram Sabha for tree covered revenue land.
• Apply to Tehsildar (Revenue) for demarcation as “Lok Van” (Public Forest).

Application Process

Offline

• Step 1: Submit management proposal to Divisional Officer (Van Mandal Adhikari) or Range Officer.
• Step 2: Land demarcation (within 15 days of decision) and handover to Gram Sabha.
• Step 3: Prepare Technical Management Plan (activities like cutting, conservation, planting).
• Step 4: Submit plan (5 copies) to Divisional Officer. Private forests use Form 1; Lok Van use Form 2.
• Step 5: Physical inspection and technical verification.
• Step 6: Approval by Divisional Officer. State Government approval required if timber harvesting exceeds 10 cubic meters.
