The scheme “Popular Tiatr Competition” was launched by the Tiatr Academy under the Art, Culture and Museums Department, Government of Goa. The scheme aims to bring about all round development of Popular Tiatr by organizing annual competitions in different parts of Goa, preserving and promoting the traditional format of tiatr performances. The scheme provides cash prizes ranging from ₹2,000/- to ₹2,00,000/- for various categories including performance, direction, acting, singing, and technical aspects.

Individual Artist Awards:
- Acting (Male/Female): 1st ₹10,000/-, 2nd ₹5,000/-
- Best Comedian (Male/Female): ₹10,000/-
- Best Supporting Artist (Male/Female): ₹5,000/-
- Best Actor in Negative Role (Male/Female): ₹5,000/-
- Best Direction: 1st ₹15,000/-, 2nd ₹10,000/-, 3rd ₹5,000/-
- Best Singer (Male/Female): 1st ₹10,000/-, 2nd ₹5,000/-
- Child Artist: ₹2,000/-
Technical Aspects:
- Best Setting, Light Effects, Background Music: ₹10,000/- each
- Best Live Music: ₹15,000/- (shared)
- Best Make-up, Costumes: ₹5,000/- each
Song and Script Awards:
- Best Duet/Duo: ₹10,000/-; Trio: ₹15,000/-; Quartet/Quintet: ₹20,000/-
- Best Script: 1st ₹10,000/-, 2nd ₹5,000/-; Best Lyrics: ₹5,000/-
Additional: Performance Fee of ₹5,000/- if video recording is permitted.
Eligibility
- Applicant must have completed at least 5 performances during the period from 1st April to 31st December.
- Performance must occur in specified auditoriums (Margao, Mapusa, Panjim, Ponda, Vasco, Sanquelim, Curchorem).
- Traditional format of tiatr must be strictly followed.
- Live music band with at least 5 instruments (drums, keyboard, bass, guitar, 2 blowing instruments) required.
- Must provide 6 passes for Judges and Organizers.
Application Process
Offline
- Step 1: Take print of the prescribed application form.
- Step 2: Fill fields, attach self-attested documents, and sign.
- Step 3: Submit to Tiatr Academy of Goa, Campal Trade Centre, Panaji.
Post-Application Processes:
- Step 1: Wait for schedule allocation. Judgment occurs between 5th January and 5th February.
- Step 2: Confirm participation and stage the performance at the assigned venue.
Exclusion
Kantaram presented in Kala Academy Tiatr Competitions cannot be included. Technicians/artists (except musicians/stage setting) cannot participate in more than one group.

- Three Typed Copies of the Script (Handwritten not accepted).
- Three Typed Copies of Lyrics.
- NOC from story writer (if applicable).
- Details of 5 or more performances.
- Cast and Crew Information.
