The scheme “Kalakar Kritadnyata Nidhi” was launched by the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa. The “Scholarships/Incentives” component of the scheme aims to provide financial support to the wards of recognized Goan artists who are pursuing higher education, thereby addressing the economic challenges faced by artist families in supporting their children’s educational aspirations and ensuring continuity of educational opportunities despite financial constraints.

Benefits

  • A monthly scholarship of ₹750/- is sanctioned to eligible wards during the currency of the academic year.
  • The vacation period is excluded from the scholarship disbursement period.
  • The scholarship is disbursed on a half-yearly basis.

Eligibility

For the Artist:

  • The artist must be a Goan, i.e., born and brought up in Goa.
  • The artist must be recognized by the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa.
  • The income of the family of the artist (from all sources) must not exceed ₹2,00,000/- per annum.
  • The artist must not be less than 50 years in age. (The Government may relax the age criteria for deserving cases under special circumstances.)

For the Ward of the Artist:

  • The ward must be enrolled in a recognized educational institution.
  • The ward must be pursuing Postgraduate, Degree, or Professional courses.
  • The ward may be enrolled in educational institutions within the state or outside the state.

Application Process

Offline

  • Step 1: Visit the office of the Directorate of Art & Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, Goa, and collect the prescribed application form for the scheme.
  • Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
  • Step 3: Submit the completed application form along with all required documents directly to the Directorate of Art & Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, Goa.

Post-Application Processes

  • Step 1: The Directorate shall forward the application to the sub-committee for scrutinizing the application thoroughly. The Director shall give its recommendations to the sub-committee.
  • Step 2: The sub-committee shall consider the received applications and recommend the names considered fit by the sub-committee to avail the benefits under this scheme.
  • Step 3: After the committee decides on the quantum of assistance, the approval from the Government shall be obtained for disbursement of the financial assistance.
  • Step 4: After obtaining Government approval, the Director shall disburse the one-time financial assistance amount in the form of Electronic Clearing System mode to the bank account.

Documents Required

For the Artist:

  • Birth Certificate.
  • Recognition Certificate, from the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa.
  • Income Certificate, from the Competent Authority.

For the Ward of the Artist:

  • Birth Certificate.
  • Proof of Admission.
  • Dependency Certificate (or a document establishing the relation with the artist).
