The “Residential – Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya/ Rajiv Gandhi Abhinav Vidyalaya” scheme is implemented by the Secondary Education Department under the Department of Education, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to provide free and accessible education for children from Class 6 to 12 by offering free education, accommodation, meals, study materials, sports facilities, etc. across all Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya / Rajiv Gandhi Abhinav Vidyalaya in the state.

Benefits

Students from Class 6 to 12 are provided with free accommodation, education, meals, and sports facilities. 50% of seats are reserved for girls and 50% for boys; 80% for rural students and 20% for urban students. Reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and orphans apply.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be studying in Class 5 in Uttarakhand.
  • The applicant must have passed Classes 3 and 4 from the same school where they are currently in Class 5.

Application Process

Offline

Uttarakhand Board of School Education conducts an entrance examination. Applications are invited from September to December. Forms are submitted to the Block Education Officer via the current school. Applicants appear for the entrance examination in February. Selection is based on the merit list for admission in Class 6.
