The scheme “Operation of Paragliding Activities” is implemented by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board under the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote safe, regulated, and professional paragliding activities in Uttarakhand by permitting certified paragliding companies and licensed tandem pilots to operate within the state.

Benefits

• Paragliding companies are permitted to operate legally.
• Tandem pilot licenses are issued, allowing holders to earn a livelihood.

Eligibility

• The applicant must be a resident of Uttarakhand for at least ten years or a native of the state.
• The applicant should possess advanced practical and technical knowledge of aero sports.

Application Process

Offline:

Applications are submitted between 16th July and 30th August every year.

1. For running a firm: Applicants must submit the prescribed form with registration, insurance, staff details, equipment descriptions, and an application fee of ₹1,000/-.

2. For Tandem Pilot:

• Must have covered a minimum air distance of 35 km (recorded in digital log).
• Must have logged a minimum of 100 hours of flying time.
• Must pass a practical test by the Technical Committee.
• Must be medically fit with valid First Aid and CPR certification.
• Must have completed the SIV (Simulation in Flight) Tandem Paragliding Safety Course.

After scrutiny, applications are evaluated by the Technical Committee, and the CEO of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council issues permissions.

• Uttarakhand Travel Business Registration Certificate
• Insurance of the firm
• Details of staff and paragliding equipment
• Tandem Joy Rides Package Fare (Tariff Card)
• Application fee receipt (₹1,000/-)

For Tandem Pilot:

• Proof of minimum air distance (35 km) and 100 hours flying time
• SIV Tandem Paragliding Safety Course Certificate
• Medical fitness certificate
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Proof of valid circular party insurance
• Technical Committee practical test report
