Overview

The Uttarakhand government has started the Maun Palan Yojana (also known as Madhu Gram Yojana or Madhu Vikas Yojana) to motivate unemployed youth for self-employment. The scheme is run under the State Horticulture Mission. The goal is to establish honey villages at the panchayat level and reduce urban migration by providing rural employment. There are currently about 7,000 Maun Palan farmers in the state producing 2,200 metric tonnes of honey.

Benefits

  • 80% subsidy provided to youths for beekeeping.
  • Assistance of Rs 350 per box.
  • 50% aid for Maun box and Maun colonies distribution.
  • 100% financial assistance for beekeeping training.
  • Maximum of 4 Maun boxes per beneficiary.
  • 10 Maun house descendants provided at Rs 800 per person.
  • 7 days of training provided.
  • Rs 350 per trainee spent on training, plus Rs 700 transferred directly to the trainee’s bank account (Total Rs 1,050).

Eligibility

  • Applicants aged 18 to 55 years.
  • One person from one family.
  • Priority to those trained by KVIC/NABARD/KVK.
  • Farmers with their own land or registered lease land for beekeeping.
