The scheme “Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls’ Hostel” (KGBV) is an initiative under the Samagra Shiksha Programme, implemented by the Secondary Education Department, Government of Uttarakhand. It aims to provide quality education and residential facilities to girls from disadvantaged groups.

Benefits

Enrolment in residential hostels for Classes 6 to 12 for identified girls from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, including girls with special needs.

Eligibility

  • Resident of Uttarakhand studying in Classes 6 to 12.
  • Reservation: 75% seats for SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities; 25% for BPL families.
  • Girls from families with annual income < ₹55,000 or orphans are also eligible.

Application Process

Offline

Applications are invited before the academic session through wide publicity. Submit the form at the designated hostel or educational office.

Documents Required

  • School leaving certificate or declaration of never attending school.
  • BPL certificate / ration card.
  • Income certificate / caste certificate.
  • Certificate confirming residence is > 3 km from the school.
