The Arts and Culture Department of Puducherry launched the “Nehru Child Literature Prize” scheme. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance of ₹10,000/- with a certificate to writers/authors for the books published in Tamil on Children’s Literature. The applications will be accepted offline.

Financial Assistance of ₹10,000/- with a certificate.

Eligibility

  • Applicant should be a writer/author/joint author.
  • Native of Puducherry (birth or 5 years residence).
  • Texts must be printed first edition published by 31st Dec of specified year.
  • One-time awardees are ineligible for the next four years.
  • No abridgments, translations, or adaptations.
  • Thesis/syllabi/lectures are not eligible.
  • Children’s literature in Tamil should not exceed 120 pages.

Application Process

Offline

Step 1: Visit the Department of Art and Culture to request the form or download it.

Step 2: Fill fields, paste photo, and attach documents.

Step 3: Submit to the Superintendent, Department of Art and Culture.

Step 4: Request a receipt.

Notes

  • Texts received cannot be returned.
  • Signatures must be original.
  • Prize money shared for joint authors.

Documents Required

  • Passport-size Photo.
  • Residence Certificate, Birth Certificate.
  • Author Biographies.
  • Five Copies of the Text.
