Launched in 2010, the scheme “Educational Allowances to the Children of Widows” by the Department of Women & Child Development, Government of Pondicherry, provides financial assistance for the education of poor widows’ children up to higher secondary or equivalent. An annual amount ranging from ₹25 to ₹125 is given based on the student’s standard.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a citizen of India and native of UT of Pondicherry (birth or 3 years residence).
  • Applicant must be a widow with an annual income not exceeding ₹24,000.
  • The child must be a student and must have obtained not less than 50% marks in every class.

Application Process

Offline / Online: https://edistrict.py.gov.in/

  • Step 1: Obtain the form from the Department of Women and Child Development or print it from the portal.
  • Step 2: Fill fields and attach documents.
  • Step 3: Submit to the Deputy Director (Women Development) or Child Development Project Officer.
  • Step 4: Request an acknowledgment receipt.

Documents Required

  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Residence and Income Certificates from the Revenue Department.
  • Passport-sized Photograph.
  • Study Certificate from the School.

Alternative documents allowed in the absence of Aadhaar include PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, etc.
