The Government of Puducherry introduced the Scheme Development Of Choir Industries to promote and develop Coir and Coir based industry in the Union territory of Puducherry. The objective is to train the rural poor and generate employment.

Benefits

Training in coir rope and coir-mat making (Period: 6 months).

Financial assistance:

• To the trainee: Stipend of Rs. 1,500/- per month.
• To the trainer: Honorarium of Rs. 300/- per month per trainee (max Rs. 3,000/-) and Raw Material wastage compensation of Rs. 200/- per month per trainee (max Rs. 2,000/-).

Eligibility

• Should be a native of Puducherry UT or a continuous resident for the past three years.
• Already trained candidates are not eligible.

Step 1: Applications are invited via local daily newspapers. Apply in the prescribed form addressed to the General Manager, District Industries Centre, Pondicherry-9.

Step 2: Obtain the hard copy proforma from the office.

Step 3: Attach required certificates (Financial position, Age, or Affidavit before a Magistrate).

Step 4: Submit to the General Manager, District Industries Centre, Pondicherry.
