The “Award of Pre-Matric Scholarship to Other Economically Backward Class (OEBC) Students” initiated by the Directorate of School Education, Union Territory of Puducherry, is designed to extend financial assistance to OEBC students, mitigating the risk of dropouts due to financial constraints. The scheme provides scholarships to students in standards 6 to 10.

Benefits

  • Rate of Scholarship:
    For standards 6 to 8: ₹50 per month (₹500 per year).
    For standards 9 & 10: ₹75 per month (₹750 per year).
  • * Benefits are for ten months in an academic year.
  • Mode of Disbursement: Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts.

Eligibility

  • Citizen of India and Native of Puducherry (birth or 5 years residence).
  • Studying in standard 6 to 10 with promotion to the next class.
  • Belong to the Other Economically Backward Class (OEBC).
  • Family income should not exceed ₹75,000 per annum.

Application Process

Offline / Online: https://edistrict.py.gov.in/

  • Step 1: Take a printout of the prescribed application format.
  • Step 2: Fill in mandatory fields and attach self-attested documents.
  • Step 3: Submit to the Head of the Institution (HOI) of the school. The HOI then forwards applications via Google Forms to the Directorate.

  • Nativity/Residential Certificate (Deputy Tahsildar level).
  • Income Certificate.
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Stamp-sized Photograph.
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • SSLC Certificate.
  • Public Information Certificate (PIC).
