The scheme “Assistance for Installation of Sprinkler / Drip Micro Irrigation Systems” was launched by the Department of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Union Territory of Puducherry. Through this scheme, various categories of farmers and institutions are provided with a subsidy for the installation of Sprinkler / Drip Micro Irrigation Systems.

Benefits

• Subsidy of 90% of the total cost (or) ₹25,000/- per hectare whichever is less for Marginal, Small, SC/ST, and Women Farmers.
• Subsidy of 70% of the total cost (or) ₹25,000/- per hectare whichever is less for Big Farmers/ Institutions.
• Subsidy released via DBT to the farmer’s account or directly to manufacturers/dealers after completion.

Eligibility

• Open to Marginal, Small, SC/ST, Women, Big Farmers and Institutions.
• Farmers must own cultivable agricultural land in UT Puducherry with an adequate water/pumping system.
• Time limits apply: not eligible if subsidy was availed in the past 10 years for sprinklers or 8 years for drip systems.
• Change of ownership does not reset the 10/8-year period for the land.
• Farmers can switch between sprinkler and drip if cultivating intercrops for 3 years.

• Step 1: Obtain the form from Uzhavar Udhaviyagams or the Hydrogeologist-II (Puducherry) / Additional Director of Agriculture (Karaikal).
• Step 2: Fill in the form and attach mandatory documents.
• Step 3: Submit the application to the respective office.
• Step 4: Receive a seniority number and acknowledgement.

Documents Required

• Revenue Certificate (Deputy Tahsildar level).
• Photocopy of Field Measurement Book (FMB) sketch.
• Electricity policy card of the tubewell.
• Bank passbook (first and last transaction pages).
• Caste Certificate for SC/ST farmers.
